As some of you might have noticed from my previous two blog posts (Conferences and Speaking to Students: Scary!), I had the pleasure of spending last week amongst 200 colleagues and students at the South Eastern Region’s American Music Therapy Association Conference.
As I stated in another post, conference is a great time to learn and network, but we also like to have fun! At the closing session of SER-AMTA, we all had the opportunity to learn how to shag. I have regrettably been living in South Carolina for three years now and have never learned, so it was a necessary thing for me to attend! I hope you enjoy the video below, as well as the interpretations of some of our students.
I was so encouraged by your presentation. I’m overwhelmed right now trying to finish, with flying colors, this spring semester, I’m sure I’ll be overwhelmed at times during my internship, and I’m sure the job search and certain parts of the job will be overwhelming, but I know I’m not alone. The combination of testimonials from students in all stages of the Music Therapy career combined with your encouragement and your passion for what you do made it one of my most favorite presentations. Please speak at the next conference. 🙂
Sincerely,
“The Shopping Cart’ dancer (Brooke Pulin)
Brooke! Your comment nearly made me cry. The fact that you enjoyed my presentation tells me that you have passion for music therapy, and will do just fine. Good luck to you.
I like the students’ version best!
I’m a big fan of that myself. But you dancing with Jennie Band comes in close second.
